About Vug Jewels

Vug Jewels and all its components are sourced and designed exclusively by me, Sarah Moeding.

In 2013, I began making bone jewelry under the name Dead Things by Sarah. As time went on, I began incorporating a wider variety of materials, including raw, or unusual semiprecious stones, vintage or vintage-replica chains, found objects, and more, in addition to ethically sourced bone. In May of 2019, I changed the name to Vug Jewels to reflect this growth, and I continue to grow and stretch with new materials and techniques, every year!

In 2020, I moved with my husband Carter and our passel of cats, then only three felines, back to Minnesota. We’ve since bought a beautiful, giant old house on a tree-lined plot of land in a tiny town in the Southwestern part of the state, where three kitties became five and then quickly eight, and now we’re up to ten inside, with a bunch outdoors we care for as well. They just keep showing up. We have Henry and Igor (brothers, grey, born in fall of 2010), Augustus (Augie) and Vivian (siblings, long-haired, orange and grey, respectively, born late summer of 2021), Theodora (Theo) (long-haired brown, black and white tabby, born late summer of 2022), Julian and Leonard (brothers, orange tabby and black, respectively, born 9/13/2022), Mimi (mama to Julian and Leonard, tortoiseshell ringtail, age unknown, but likely born in 2021, and was still a kitten when pregnant with Julian and Leonard), and Greta and OB, who just came inside after being part of the outdoor gang, in the last couple months (siblings, we think, both orange and white with a freckle on their nose, probably born in 2021) and a handful of outdoor cats that have made their homes in our Kitty Tube or under our porch. Carter and I are fervent animal lovers, and we’ve really felt our hearts expand since the loss of one of our babies, Odin in June of 2022, almost immediately followed by so many more showing up for love. I personally cannot recommend laying in bed in the evening, watching one’s stories while covered in cats, more.

And hey, do you own a shop that my work would vibe with? Do you know of one such shop? I am always looking to expand my brand into shops and boutiques across the country! If you are interested in a wholesale relationship (or know someone who might be), please take a look at my wholesale/consignment relationships tab, and then email me at sarah@vugjewels.com to discuss options if you think we’d make a great match!
